Did you know?

Walton arranged the Spitfire Prelude and Fugue from his own score for The First of the Few, one of four films released in 1942 with music by Walton.

Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto was the last major instrumental composition he composed and it premiered less than two months before his death.

The Clarinet Concerto was originally composed for the basset clarinet, a kind of clarinet with an extended lower range.

Vaughan Williams made his first sketches for Symphony No.5 in 1936, began composition in earnest in 1938, completed the work early in 1943, and made minor revisions in 1951.
